State Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan is an official state holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It has been celebrated since November 9, 2009. The date of celebration was set on November 9, 1918 on the basis of the APC's acceptance of the Azerbaijani flag as the state flag.
The tricolor flag was first approved by the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on November 9, 1918. At the session of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by Heydar Aliyev on November 17, 1990, the tricolor flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was adopted as the flag of the autonomous republic. On February 5, 1991, the tricolor flag was approved by the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On November 17, 2009, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the establishment of the National Flag Day. According to the decree, November 9 was declared National Flag Day in our country. The State Flag Museum was opened in Baku on November 9, 2009 - National Flag Day. On September 1, 2010, a memorial-recreation complex of the State Flag Square was opened in Baku with the participation of Ilham Aliyev. The state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was hoisted on the tallest flagpole in the world (162 meters). The flag is 35 meters wide, 70 meters long and weighs about 350 kilograms. The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed on May 29, 2010 that the Azerbaijani national flagpole is the tallest flagpole in the world.
